I took a great hike up Cascade Canyon and got to know the local wildlife.
This was my first encounter with marmots (which appear to be somewhere in between groundhogs and ferrets in size), and they're quite cute.
I also had some lovely views of a western tanager, which had caught some sort of fly.
And on my way up, I saw this moose grazing in the bushes along a stream.
Though I saw quite the variety of animals, I didn't see any bears in Yellowstone or Teton - I wasn't all that disappointed.
This was one of the views along the hike. Pretty spectacular.
As I came down from the hike, I got drenched by a thunderstorm, but by the time I got back to my tent, it had started to clear.
This was the view in one direction from my campsite.
And this was the other. Not bad at all.
I got up the next morning for sunrise, and was not disappointed.
It was beautiful and misty out.
This was just a little after sunrise.
And the morning light was pretty amazing on this immature eagle (which I can't identify as a golden or bald eagle - any clue?).
I also watched this osprey survey the nearby lake for several minutes before it took off.
All in all, Grand Teton was one of the most impressive parks I visited. It's small enough (area-wise) so as not to be overwhelming and still has gorgeous views and amazing wildlife.
